The Faculty of Built Environment at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (KNUST) will host a Built Environment Week aimed at strengthening engagement with industry, alumni, policymakers and surrounding communities, university officials said.
The Dean of the Faculty, Professor Emmanuel Adinyira, has inaugurated a nine-member planning committee chaired by Dr. Stephen Takyi to coordinate the event.
Members of the committee include Dr. Kenneth Donkor-Hyiaman, Prof. Alexander Marful, Prof. Owusu Amponsah, Dr. Henry Mensah, Dr. Barbara Simons, Dr. Bismark Duodu, Mr. Henry Boafo, Mr. Prince Anokye and Dr. (Mrs.) Ayisha Ida Baffoe-Ashun.
At the committee’s maiden meeting, Prof. Adinyira said the Faculty’s mandate spans architecture, planning, construction, real estate, quantity surveying and related disciplines whose outputs directly affect industry and public policy.
He tasked the committee to design a week-long programme that would “bring the Faculty closer to its stakeholders” while showcasing its academic and research contributions.
The Week is expected to enhance strategic partnerships, present student projects and research innovations, promote internship and consultancy opportunities, and strengthen alumni and professional linkages.
Planned activities include an opening ceremony and public lecture by a leading industry figure, an industry–academia roundtable dialogue, a research and innovation exhibition, a student design showcase, and a career and internship fair.
The programme will also feature professional development workshops, an alumni homecoming and networking event, and community outreach initiatives focused on sustainability and safety awareness.
